The current global-economic system is deeply dysfunctional. This dysfunction is not a result of specific crises, but is endemic, designed into the very basis of the system. That dysfunction causes widespread suffering, and therefore must be stopped. Removal of dysfunctional systems must be complemented by implementation of functional alternatives.
Although Social Futurist organizations and communities should strive to avoid exploitative economic practices, public debt, or debt trading in addition to strictly separating governance and capital investment, such groups should not be unduly discouraged from advantageous exchanges involving decentralized alternative currencies or properly regulated trading partners where money of some form is necessary.
